About
Us
Bavarian Clean Care has been servicing the Cheyenne community
for over 30 years. We are locally owned and operated.
Bavarian Clean Care is an IICRC certified firm. We use only certified
technicians. This insures that you get the best service possible. We
have an IICRC certified Master Cleaner on staff, as well as a Senior
Floor Covering Inspector. We believe in the importance of quality.
We would like to help you with your cleaning needs. We offer free estimates
with no obligation.
When you buy quality
carpeting and furniture, you want it to look good and provide years
of dependable service. To do that, you need to have it maintained
by a skilled, qualified technician every six to twelve months, depending
on the amount of soiling and foot traffic it receives. We at Bavarian
would like to provide that service for you. We want you to be completely
delighted with every service we perform for your household. Nothing
is more important to us than your complete and total satisfaction.

Common
Misconceptions
MISCONCEPTION
1: Wait
as long as possible before cleaning your carpets.
TRUTH: Dirt is abrasive like sandpaper. Every time you have traffic
over the dirt you grind it into the carpet fibers. This cuts your carpet,
just as if you had used a knife. This cutting causes your carpet to wear
out faster. While vacuuming helps, it is simply not enough. The longer
you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to your carpet
and the faster it will wear out.
MISCONCEPTION
2: The
only reason to clean carpets is to remove the dirt.
TRUTH: As you know, outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria,
air pollution, cigarette smoke and contaminants. When you come into your
home you carry those particles in your hair, on your skin, clothing and
shoes, it is not surprising that all those toxins wind up in your carpet.
Also, for people with allergies, asthma, emphysema or other breathing
problems, a major source of problems can be the pollens, fungus and bacterial
contaminates found in the carpet. Having your carpet professionally cleaned
will help rid your household of toxins that can cause serious health problems.
MISCONCEPTION
3: One
method of carpet cleaning is as good as another.
TRUTH: Dry cleaning methods (dry foam, dry chemicals and dry compounds)
do not rinse your carpet in any way. Instead, they leave a residue because
they are not rinsed out of the carpet. Hot water extraction using a truck
mounted machine cleans much better because it heats the water to a higher
temperature and injects the cleaning solution into the carpet at higher
pressures, which break up the dirt, bacteria and contaminates. The machine
then uses strong vacuums to remove the dirt and contaminates out of the
carpet, followed by a clear water rinse to remove any remaining residue.
(This is the method of carpet cleaning we primarily use and is requested
by most of our customers. We do offer the other methods as well.)
MISCONCEPTION 4: Having the right
equipment is all a company needs to clean your carpets properly.
TRUTH: Many companies own truck mounted equipment or even portable
hot water extraction machines, but very few have taken the time to teach
their employees how to use them properly. A technician that has been trained
and certified has the experience to perform a better job for you. This
is where it becomes critical to do the homework and identify your objective.
Look at the credentials, certifications, and reputation of the people
doing the work. The best cleaning companies are those that have been certified
by (IICRC) Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification
MISCONCEPTION
5: Use
the company offering the lowest price.
TRUTH: We have seen time and time again, problems arising from
consumers that hire the lowest bidder. Do not assume that one is just
as good as another. We can’t stress enough how untrue this is. Equipment,
training, experience and credentials vary from business to business. All
companies are not the same and simply put, you get what you pay for.
MISCONCEPTION
6: Any
carpet cleaning company should be able to give you an exact price over
the phone.
TRUTH: We wish that were true, but it isn’t. Honest, reputable
cleaning companies almost never price carpet cleaning by the room. Instead,
carpet cleaning is usually priced by the square foot. So if you know the
square footage of what you want cleaned, a price quote over the phone
generally isn't a problem unless you have unusual circumstances (pet odor
problem, extensive spotting). Also, most companies offer a free estimate
and will come out, measure and inspect, and give you a written estimate.
It isn’t a bad idea to take advantage of companies that will do
that because you not only get the written price, but also have a face
to face meeting with the owner or technician and have them answer any
questions you may have.

Ask
the Manufacturer
Obviously, each cleaning service will be biased towards his own
cleaning method. And honestly, each method has its advantages and disadvantages.
So I recommend that you look to what the carpet manufacturer is recommending
for your specific carpet in today’s world. The manufacturer can
give advice as to how often your carpet should be cleaned and by which
method.
For example, Shaw
Industries, the largest carpet manufacturer of carpet today, recommends
the following on their web site Shaw,
Inc.
Research indicated
that the hot water extraction system provides the best capability for
cleaning. This system is commonly referred to as “steam cleaning,”
although no steam is actually generated. The process consists of spraying
a solution of water and detergent into the carpet pile and recovering
the water and soil with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank. This can
be done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose
and wand brought inside or by a portable system brought into the home.
It is to your advantage
to use professional cleaners because their experience enables them to
do a better job than you can do yourself. Their equipment has more extraction
power than the rental units available to individuals, and the carpet should
dry more quickly. True professionals also understand the equipment, know
the proper cleaning agents for the situation at hand, and recognize the
differences in fibers and carpet construction.

Carpet
Cleaning Methods
Absorbent Compound (dry powder absorption) Cleaning
With absorbent compound cleaning, a granular carrier is impregnated with
solvent detergent and moisture. After brush distribution and agitation,
the carrier absorbs soil and both are removed with dry vacuuming.
Advantages-
• Time is the number one advantage of this process as the carpet
can be used almost immediately after the carpet has been cleaned.
Disadvantages-
• Cleaning compound is relatively expensive.
• Un-recovered particles can contribute to abrasive solids left
in carpet which leads to rapid re-soiling.
Mist and Brush
Method
The Mist and Brush process can be used on virtually any carpet, natural
or synthetic. The carpet is sprayed with a detergent. The detergent is
worked through the carpet yarns using counter rotating cylindrical brushes.
Advantages-
• The carpet dries quickly.
• This is an excellent interim maintenance procedure.
• Very fast and usually cost effective.
Disadvantages-
• This method should be used in conjunction with periodic hot water
extraction in order to remove all detergent.
• It is usually only considered for commercial maintenance cleaning.
Bonnet Cleaning
This method uses a rotary floor machine with a cotton pad. The carpet
is sprayed with a special detergent. The cotton pad is spun over the surface
of the carpet.
Advantages-
• This process is fast and usually inexpensive.
Disadvantages-
• Bonnet cleaning has received a lot of negative feedback from the
manufacturers, as the rotary action of the bonnet will occasionally exacerbate
an existing yarn matting problem
Rotary Shampoo
Using a rotary floor machine with a brush, high foaming detergent is worked
through the carpet. The strong agitation distributes the chemical and
suspends the soil in the foam. The foam dries to a crisp residue and is
vacuumed away after drying.
Advantages-
• Rotary Shampooing works well as pre-conditioning before hot water
extraction.
Disadvantages-
• Over wetting can be a serious problem.
• Done improperly, the soil can be driven deeper into the carpet.
• This process should only be accomplished by a trained technician.
High Performance
Hot Water Extraction Cleaning
Steam Cleaning is probably the most well known carpet cleaning method
used today. A majority of the professional carpet cleaners are using state
of the art, truck-mounted units. These machines are designed to inject
very hot cleaning solutions into the carpet under very high pressure and
then vacuum the soils into a waste tank on the truck. This should then
be followed by a clear water rinse to insure that all residues are removed.
It is like laundering fabric and is considered restorative type cleaning.
Advantages-
• Accomplished properly, this method of cleaning is by far the most
thorough.
Disadvantages-
• This method requires a longer drying time.
• It is usually more expensive due to more extensive labor.
Dual Method
The dual method is accomplished using rotary shampooing prior to hot water
extraction cleaning.
Advantages-
• This method is most desirable when the carpet appears to be near
death because of severe soiling conditions.
Disadvantages-
• This method requires a longer drying time and process time.
• It is usually more expensive due to more extensive labor.

Avoiding
Rip-offs
Unbelievably
Low Price
To some degree, all of us are attracted by low price because we want to
work within a budget. But some carpet cleaners use price as the bait for
their false and misleading advertising. They offer an unbelievable low
price per room, for instance $9.95 per room, with a minimum of three rooms.
Once they are in your home, they pressure you into buying add-ons. Add-ons
are things such as moving furniture, spot removal, preconditioning, vacuuming,
etc.
Bait &
Switch
Dual process carpet cleaning describes the process of shampooing or heavy
preconditioning, followed with hot water extraction cleaning. Unfortunately,
unethical carpet cleaners often use dual process as a bait and switch
technique. Here is how it works: first, they bait you with a basic cleaning
(single process) at an unbelievably low price. Then, they try to switch
you to a more expensive dual process cleaning often times telling you
that your carpet is so bad that you will need the dual process to get
it clean. If you don’t fall for their switch and choose their basic
service, you’ll likely receive poor workmanship using little or
no chemicals along with no guarantee their work.
Unsupported
Claims
“This method is the best!” You’ll hear this from virtually
every carpet cleaner. Remember this: The method that is best for you is
the method that achieves your goal. If you want a method that dries quickly,
then a method that takes a longer time to dry isn’t the best for
you. If you’re worried about getting the carpet clean, as well as
the health of you and your family then the dry methods of cleaning are
not for you. So, before you choose a carpet cleaner, identify your objectives.
Then select the method that best reaches those objectives.

Beliefs
“Hot water
damages your carpet” Years ago many people believed this was true
because their carpets were damaged by technicians who didn’t know
how to properly clean using hot water. But today, we know that this is
a false statement. By cleaning and then rinsing your carpet with clean,
hot water, your carpets are thoroughly cleaned. If a clear water rinse
is not used after detergent has been applied to your carpet, it will remain
and then attract dirt, which will lead to rapid re-soiling.

Choosing
A Carpet Cleaner
There is no question
that you want to choose a carpet cleaner with first rate equipment, but
check credentials, certifications, reputation, and ability. Bottom line
you need to be able to trust the company you are bringing into your home
and feel confident that you are going to get the quality you want and
are paying for. Call the IICRC at 1-800-835-4624 and check that the technician
is certified. Their web site can also provide that information. www.iicrc.org.
It is very easy to
spend money on a flashy, large and impressive advertisement. Having an
ad that stands out in the phone book may be well and good, but that doesn’t
make one cleaner any better than the other. Let reputation, experience,
certifications, credentials and satisfied customers help make your choice.
Ask for references, comments written from customers, call the Better Business
Bureau. Most companies will be glad to give referrals of people they have
done work for. Check with your neighbors, friends and relatives. Chances
are if they were happy and satisfied you will be too!
Do not choose a carpet
cleaner based on low price. Low price can be a problem in three ways:
- Low price can
be the bait that is used to attract the unsuspecting consumer.
- They can then
pressure you into a much more expensive job, up-selling you add-ons
to increase the cost of the job. Add-ons that they could charge extra
for most often are moving furniture, spot removal, preconditioning,
vacuuming, etc.
- The equipment
being used is inferior to other machines and processes.
Do not choose a carpet
cleaner based on a single telephone call. Instead, invite the company
to your home and ask for a written estimate or quote detailing what steps
and price he is willing to perform his service for.
Ask the company for
credentials, years in business, equipment that will be used and if they
have any guarantees.
Choose a carpet cleaner who is a member of a carpet and fabric care association.
Being a member of an association attributes to the fact that the firm
and its technicians believe in ethical business practices, staying current
on continuing education in the industry and have the highest level of
commitment to customer service.

Tips
on Maintaining Carpet
Vacuuming
Heavy traffic areas should be vacuumed very frequently, possibly everyday
or every other day depending on use. Once a week, do a very thorough vacuuming
of all carpet. Adjust the vacuum level so the base of the vacuum is in
contact with the carpet. Don’t be too fast in your sweeping motion.
It takes time for the vacuum to pull soil up from the bottom. Change your
furniture arrangement often to cut down on wear or traffic patterns.
Many people tout the
advantages of one vacuum over another. The most important feature is that
it be comfortable to use! It is important to have a hose attachment for
getting in the corners and edges of a room. Check the vacuum often to
be sure it is in good working order. Remember that if your vacuum has
a beater bar, make sure it turns and the brush and belt are in good condition.
If the brush is worn down it is no longer doing the job it was intended
to do and needs to have new brushes installed. Check the bag; whether
it is paper or cloth, to be sure the bag is not full. Do not allow your
vacuum bag to become completely full before emptying it. Remember, the
most expensive vacuum is no good if it isn’t being used or if it
isn’t in proper working condition. A good vacuum will help to maintain
the appearance and lengthen the life of your carpet.
Loose Threads
and Carpet Repairs
Loose threads should be attended to immediately. Clip them with scissors.
Don’t ever pull threads out by hand. If you need any repairs (at
room entrances or seams) call your carpet company or carpet installer
to take care of them immediately. The longer you leave them, the more
fraying and damage that can occur and may not be able to be fixed. In
essence, a small problem has then become a very big problem.
Spots &
Spills
Spots and spills should be taken care immediately. Normally, the faster
you take care of a spill, the less likely the spill has of becoming a
permanent stain. In today’s world we are fortunate enough to have
protectors on the market that can be applied either when the carpet is
manufactured or after a carpet is cleaned. These protectors act as a soil
retardant and are designed to repel soils and spills and keep them from
penetrating carpet or upholstery fibers.
Flood Clean-up
and Restoration
If your carpet is ever flooded from broken pipes, seepage or sewer backup,
remember this is a common occurrence, if handled properly and promptly,
it can be a simple resolution.
First, locate the
source of the problem and act promptly to stop the water. Next, move furniture
out of wet areas to prevent further damage (damage to furniture or furniture
stain being released onto the carpet). If a piece of furniture can not
be moved, try to place it higher up to get it out of standing water or
place aluminum foil under legs to prevent staining of carpet and absorption
of the water.
After these emergency
steps have been completed, call your professional carpet cleaner to insure
that the removal of standing water and bacteria are handled properly.
